Imagine the complaints if we had a picture like that for a female athlete --MartinUK 21:00, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Needs a good copyedit - somewhat fawning as currently written SP-KP 18:15, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- It sounds (slightly) better now. Remove it if you want. And the World Championship paragraph seems like recentism, that could be removed too. Skinnyweed 05:03, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ideally we'd have that level of detail for every world championship appearance --MartinUK 21:00, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Tribute
One of the greatest snooker talents we have ever seen, a gentleman and great player to watch. I think I can say for everyone that he will be sorely missed. Millm0w 07:50, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
I second that. Hunter was a great player but also a great guy. A major loss. Restin peace mateErnst Stavro Blofeld 08:39, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- Did he die of a brain tumour, or the original stomach / colon cancers?--MartinUK 15:41, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Cause of death
What was the actual cause of death? Brain tumour, stomach cancer and prostate cancer are all cited in the article. Archibald99 16:14, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Lyndsey or Lindsey?
If anyone knows which is the correct spelling, it would be nice to use it throughout. 84.70.63.14 21:52, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
The World Snooker website and the Times obituary lists her name spelled as "Lindsey", but the Guardian obituary uses "Lyndsey" Seedybob2 09:58, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think it's been established as Lindsey, contrary to the intro in the Unbreakable excerpt link. - Dudesleeper · Talk 14:06, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Paul - a smoker ?
I read in a newspaper that Hunter was a NON-smoker, but these articles tend to suggest otherwise. I will leave these references in case anyone else queries it.

Is it even relevant to the article? This form of cancer has no link to smoking but it has been slipped in in a judgemental way. WalterMitty 17:51, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
There are some links between testicular cancer and smoking.
- Which would have some merit had Paul actually suffered from testicular cancer. --DrFod 15:17, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- I don't usually get involved with these things, but this is clearly inappropriate: "Hunter, a smoker, had been receiving chemotherapy for his illness and had been struggling to find form since beginning treatment". If you think smoking is interesting enough to bother mentioning (btw, it isn't) then it should go elsewhere. To link it to the illness in this way is distasteful. I'm moving it. 86.16.223.203 13:04, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Both myself and the Daily Telegrpah disagree with you:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=&xml=/news/2006/10/11/db1102.xml
- I've just read this article for the first time and found the smoker reference to be totally inappropriate. There is no link between neuroendocrine cancer and smoking, and as WalterMitty said, its inclusion is highly judgemental. The Telegraph should know better too. I'm removing this reference and really someone should rewrite this article as a lot of it has been lifted verbatim from the Telegraph obituary. --DrFod 15:17, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Inconsiderates
Who cares how Paul died? I doubt his wife thinks much of your debate over stupid details. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Show some damn respect. He was a great snooker player who will be sorely missed, and that is that. Anyone who thinks otherwise can take it up with me. Millm0w 19:22, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- Grow up, Millm0w. These guys are just trying to get the facts straight so that the article about Paul is accurate. I'm pretty sure they all sympathize with his family. 81.131.104.228 23:10, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- Please remember what site you're visiting. This is no chatroom, this is no tabloid, this is no blog, this is no forum. This is an encyclopedia that wish to cover such "details" for completeness, however sad these news were. -- Northgrove 21:09, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
We ALL sympathyze with his family. So, so sorry he died. Great snooker player he was. West Brom 4ever 16:05, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Grow up? Some ckeek you got 81.131.104.228. I suggest you think about exactly what you're saying, then come to my homepage and grovel you sick little person. Millm0w 07:48, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- What's your homepage? And exactly who are you? And also, remember Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Skinnyweed 08:21, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry about the personal attack, I'm a disgruntled Birmingham City fan who has just seen his team lose 0-1 to Norwich, so my noramlly level temperement is wearing very thin. Millm0w 11:40, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
You have behaved despicably, Millm0w. First of all Wiki should try and present the facts as accurately as possible regardless of the circumstances, however sad they may be, and that is all the contributors have tried to do - as pointed out by the person you called 'sick'. The best way to honour Paul on this site is to make sure his entry isn't riddled with factual inaccuracies. I take my hat off to the people who have worked hard to paint a comprehensive and dignified picture of Paul Hunter. WalterMitty 20:25, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm out of order! You're out of order! This whole courtroom's out of order! Millm0w 10:45, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Phil Yates
Is Phil Yates actually a commentator as it says in the article? I don't remember ever hearing him commentate, just do a bit of punditry. -88.111.72.136 13:40, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Deleted source
Someone deleted this source from the article, because the article text changed such that the source was not relevant right there any longer. The obit is actually quite a rich little piece in its own right and can be used to source probably 20-50 facts in this article! It needs to be restored, and used liberally with <ref name="TelegraphObit"> and {{Cite web}} to source as many statements as possible. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 20:01, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Paul-hunter-wembley.jpg
Image:Paul-hunter-wembley.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Best Performances list
Does it really have to be this detailed? Reaching the last 16 when you're a top 16 player only involves winning one match, against a non-top16 player. In the Masters, not even that if you're in the top 14. Maybe limit it to semi-finals or later, plus his early breakthrough runs? --MartinUK (talk) 23:47, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Writing style
Something about the writing style on this seems a bit newspaper article-esque. There's also possibly the slightest POV - but I'm not really sure whether it constitutes removal - with the section heading "the great sportsman". I think it's phrases like "it was time for the Yorkshireman to perform on the biggest stage of all, and that he most certainly did" that are giving it the newspaper, rather than encyclopedia, vibe.
