The censored line...

What did Brian say to Peter that was censored out in the broadcast version? I doubt I'll pick up the DVD since I tape all of the episodes. I'm sure the first bleep was the f-word but what about the second one?

McDonalds?

The fast-food place Lois gets burned at looks A LOT like a standard McDonalds. Should be also be a reference?

I don't think so. It looks a LOT like the layout of just about any generic fast-food place. The Kinslayer 07:56, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
The commentary on the dvd says that it was going to be a McDonalds or Burger King but they couldn't expressly do either because of "sponsorship issues" JayKeaton 23:06, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Commentary for this episode of dvd

The commentary for this episode appears to be heavily edited, minutes at a time where nothing is said. At one point, after one of these silences, their voices come back and one of them says something along the tune of "There is no way they will let us say that, that will be cut out by the Fox sensor guys for sure". Also at the start they said it was their 3rd attempt at the commentary for Petarded, but I think they said it could have been due more to technical issues JayKeaton 23:06, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Vagina Monologues

Should we mention Jeff Gillooly in the vagina monologues reference?

Gilbert Gottfried???

Where was Gilbert Gottfried in this episode? I didn't here his voice, nor did I see in the credits —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.19.141.251 (talk) 18:18, 9 December 2006 (UTC).

That's why I added a fact tag, thanks for pointing that out. TheBlazikenMaster 13:27, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Removed unnecessary trivia

I have taken out some of the 'cultural references'. It seemed as though the author was clutching at straws a bit, desperate to fill space. DanTheShrew (talk) 08:58, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Atomic Bombing on Hiroshima Joke

In this episode, I think there was a joke about this Japanese guy who was having a horrible day, and the worst part was it was on August 6, 1945, the day of the Atomic Bombing on Hiroshima. I think that should be added somewhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BA 744 (talkcontribs) 03:15, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Commentary stuff

  • The idea behind the episode came from show creator Seth MacFarlane. (Goodman) (Wild)
  • Originally, the show had tried to get the actor who voiced the original Hunker cheese character, however as MacFarlane described in the commentary "he was a little old, [...] and he didn't remember doing it. (MacFarlane)" (Goodman)
  • In the original draught of the episode, it was going to be down to chance that Peter got the easy trivial pursuit questions, but David Goodman came up with the idea that easy questions would be slipped in. (Sheridan)
  • The Rock Me Amadeus reference almost didn't make it on the episode; (MacFarlane) the show producers encountered trouble tracking down Falco, the artists, but eventually, after much effort, they got a hold of them and obtained the right. (MacFarlane) (Wild) (Sheridan)
  • Peter takes the MacArthur Fellows Program, also known as the "MacArthur Genius Grant" in the episode, a reference to the real-life scheme. (Sheridan)
  • Originally, when Peter hands Brian his results, Peter was to say "Would a retarded person have peed in his pants (then for Peter to pee in his pants), but broadcasting standards wouldn't allow that to be broadcast. (Goodman) (MacFarlane)
  • Brian saying to Peter "In your face, Fuckwad" after learning of Peter's results was censored on television broadcast. (MacFarlane)
  • The song showing several Quahog citizens learning and chatting about Peter being declared retarded is from Bye Bye Birdie. (Goodman) (MacFarlane) It was prohibited from showing on the television version as they felt there was too many uses of the word retarded. (Goodman) The actual song from the movie is shown in the episode, and it was sung by the FG orchestra for the episode. (MacFarlane)
  • Several additional sequences were made showing Peter practising his new belief that he can get away with anything, such as a "how loud can I yell", and one with Peter being a Patriots game and tackling down an opponent who is going for a touchdown, but none of them stayed in, as they weren't that funny. (Goodman) (Sheridan)
  • A reference is made in the episode to Mask, which is about Rocky Dennis who suffered from a rare bone disorder. it was pitched by Alex Borstein. (MacFarlane)
  • Originally, instead of all of the kids staying at Cleveland, it was to be Chris staying at the Goldman's, Stewie with Cleveland, and Meg with Quagmire (Sheridan) (Wild) and then Quagmire made Meg lock him in a safe room because he couldn't trust himself with her friends (Wild) and Mort Goldman told Chris that he was bi-anused. (MacFarlane) but they wouldn't let the series do it and it was replaced with the current sketch. (Wild)

Qst (talk) 12:20, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

  • Originally, during the conversation between Meg and her friends, one of them was to say "let's compare nipples" (MacFarlane) (Goodman) but it was never used.
  • A reference is made to Jake and the Fatman; (Wild) it was pitched by Danny Smith. (Goodman)
