Out of date term?[edit]

Pneumatolysis is a very rarely used term nowadays but it is still used in various academic journal articles and geology books, see e.g. Google Scholar. This Wikipedia article's text stating that it is an obsolete term is based on the claim in Bates and Jackson (1984) "Dictionary of Geological Terms" 3rd edition. (The "Glossary of Geology" 5th edition (2005) also claims that it is an obsolete term). I suppose it depends on how that dictionary/glossary defined "obsolete", which can mean either "no longer used" or merely "old-fashioned". I think most geologists nowadays would use the term "hydrothermal alteration" instead of pneumatolysis. GeoWriter (talk) 13:33, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
