The best citation for the relative importance of the jersey classifications are the rules for which jersey should be worn in the event of topping multiple classifications. I believe this rule is consistent across all the grand tours in listing the points jersey as being behind the general classification jersey but ahead of the mountains jersey. This is also the same in some minor stage races such as Tour of Britain but not sure if there are exceptions in other stage races? If so the description could be tweaked to say that the Points jersey is usually considered more important but I would have thought that Grand Tour practice is the most important thing here.

An actual citation can be found here: http://www.letour.fr/2011/TDF/COURSE/docs/reglement.pdf p30, "Article 10: Leader Jerseys" where the English rules state: "The leaders of the general time ranking, the general points ranking, the best climber ranking and the general young riders ranking must wear: • in the first case, the Yellow jersey; • in the second case, the green jersey; • In the third case, the white and red polka dot jersey; • in the fourth case, the white jersey."

This is pretty clear about the relative importance of the jerseys. I can't find the same rule in English for the Giro/Vuelta but this rule reflects the way jerseys are worn in those two races as well. Andrewdpcotton (talk) 08:02, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Winners by year

At the start of the Winners by year section, there is some extra info (boldface/italic/bold-and-italics), but in the list there's is only one boldfaced name, no italics, and no bold-and-italics names; why mention italics and bold-and-italics if they aren't applicable?
