Political correctness

[edit]

The idea of a polite society has sometimes been associated to the notion of political correctness. This could maybe be added into the article if relevant sources are found. ADM (talk) 18:36, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

At the moment, this is a disambiguation page, not really an article--I didn't think the phrase quite warranted an article. {WP:DAB} While those accused of "political correctness" may have an unironic goal to make society more polite, the phrase polite society has referred to the elite or upper class for centuries. (See the wiktionary link.)
Polite society as a phrase has been interchangeable with the manners and/or etiquette of the upper class for generations (themselves two different kinds of rulesets). Politically correct is a much younger phrase, which has evolved to protest enforced politeness when addressing class and other boundaries, and is not as obviously interchangeable.
So I think that would stretch the definition of a disambiguation page. If an article were to be made about the phrase, then discussing PC would be useful, but I suspect the extant articles on etiquette are already the best places for that. -Yamara 12:37, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was also wondering about that. Is there another article with more of that sort of info? Benjamin (talk) 09:04, 25 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
