Hangon
[edit]Please hang on. I just created this page, and literally within seconds it gets recommended for deletion. The band is legitimate, is referenced in main stream media, has music for sale, etc. Please allow time for this page to be built before speedily deleting it. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 04:59, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
I am unclear what is meant by "any credible claim of significance or importance." Please explain. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 05:01, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- That language is meant to be an indication that there is no wording in the article that says why this band is important (best, first, loudest, great reviews, award winning, etc...). I have removed the CSD tags to give you more time, however I truly believe this band is not notable. Please take a look at WP:BAND and please try to make it clear in the article why this band is worthy of mentioning. I can find plenty of sources for their concert listings on google, but no reviews besides the one you've already cited. 7 talk | Δ | 05:07, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. Forgive me but I'm going to stop editing now due to the need to sleep. However, Polka Floyd is fairly new. Why delete this page so fast? Why now wait a few months to give the media a chance to see a show and write about it? A speedy deletion seems harsh in this circumstance.
- Let me add that I am not connected with the band in any way whatsoever. I do not even live in in that area. So this in not for promotional purposes. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 05:12, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hmmm... Okay... I didn't mention a WP:COI or using this for promotional purposes so strange that you bring it up. Also, you may want to peruse WP:CRYSTAL because we don't usually leave articles around waiting for the groups to become notable or for the press to write about outside of Wikipedia (which I assume is what you meant by the media). Regardless, get some sleep and let's let others take a look at the page and see what they think. 7 talk | Δ | 05:27, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. I have uncovered more media sources:
- "The 'Dark Side' of Polka," by Ed Carroll, The Independent Collegian, 13 September 2007.
- "Polka Floyd Brings its Dotty Tribute to Rock Legends to BG, by Cole Christensen, Bowling Green Sentinel-Tribune, 22 October 2008.
- Pink Floyd Polka Hits ‘The Wall’, by ?, Moorhead Fargo Forum, 11 October 2007. (Have to pay to see this.)
- Music Review: The Polka Floyd Show, by Mitch Phillips, MichiganBands, 8 February 2008.
- Polka Floyd: Dark Side of the Accordion, by John Liberty, Kalamazoo Gazette, 9 October 2008.
- So I think we have 6 media sources for this band. Some say they are asked to be opening acts for national bands, some say Wil Wheaton loves them, etc. All say glowing things. I think the picture is starting to gel that Polka Floyd belongs in Wikipedia. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 00:51, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
