Porthleven is a small fishing village situated near Helston in Cornwall. I'm a newbie, and I thought I'd have a go at editing this article about my home town. Or is it a village? It now has a town council, but most people who live here refer to "the village". I believe there are no strict definitions. In any case, I think "small village" can't be right for a place with a population of 3,190 (I added this detail). I have deleted the "small". Comments welcome. Nvw 01:39, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Guy Gibson]

As far as I know it was not Guy Gibson's home town. His wife's family (Strike) was from here.. i understand that he used to visit Porthleven on occassions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inchox02 (talkcontribs) 17:33, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Port?

Not sure about is a port vs. has a harbour. Does the port have a town attached, or does the town having a harbour transmogrify it into a port? If it is a port, should the article be using {{Infobox port}}? Maybe add {{Infobox port}} as a child of the {{Infobox UK place}} template? Discuss. — GhostInTheMachine (talk) 14:23, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

A place with a port is known as a port. See dictionaries to confirm. Bmcln1 (talk) 16:18, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
