Translation: "How does it know if you want Print Screen or SysRq?" Well, the SysRq key can be used by simultaneously pressing Ctrl+Alt+PrtScn, and speak English, for God's sake. -Uagehry456talk 03:23, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
New copyrighted digital medial standards enforced
[edit]What is a "digital medial"? Whatever it is,you better inform Wiktionary, and the rest of the world what this means.Thx.
07/04/2005 on the new Windows Media Player 9 we saw Microsoft complying with copyrighted digital medial. NASA's broadcast of Operation Deep Impact could only be screen captured with grayish-black print screens. The un-updated Real Player provided a means to get around this, but they followed shortly after not allowing images of broadcasts, music videos, etc. to be taken. Today disabling the printscreen is an option Windows offers to movies, music videos, and computer games. Warning: Non-Microsoft print screen utility programs available for purchase also have to honor these licensed media rights and will not copy them correctly. Imlookingnow 20:57, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- What's this? Isn't this actually because of video overlay? Also, this text doesn't sound very encyclopedic. --Mégara (Мегъра) - D. Mavrov 00:06, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- I cant screen shot WMVs!! Another reason why dat format sucks! Maybe there are conversion apps... Duz prinscreen still let you take images off those sites with "No Right Click" Scripts? RealG187 20:49, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- This is probably due to video overlay. I deleted the paragraph. --Jtalledo (talk) 12:03, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- You can delete the paragrah and remove the author, but you can't screen capture copyrighted images anymore. This is the issue. I think it is important to capture the date that this major change took place. No, it is not popular to talk about. You are correct. Imlookingnow 20:57, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Print Screen with cursor
[edit]I'm fully aware that hitting the button will cause the cursor to disappear whilst the button is held down, making the cursor not appear in the screenshot; is there a way to bypass this?

- Specialist screen capture software is necessary for this. Please see What Wikipedia is not - in particular, "bear in mind that talk pages exist for the purpose of discussing how to improve articles; they are not mere general discussion pages about the subject of the article, nor are they a helpdesk for obtaining instructions or technical assistance." Does this work in Windows XP
[edit]windows xp pro 2002 alt printscreen just makes an image of the display monitor image rather than the entire scrollable window It would be a big feature if it copied the entire scrollable length —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.211.132.100 (talk) 02:31, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

- Yes it does. Why are you asking here if you already know the guidelines? Stannered 14:15, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

“Print Screen Symbol”, U+2399 not displaying
[edit]I'm using Firefox 3.6.9 and it's not displaying. This page should have a help link, especially for users with IE. Should we use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:U%2B2399.gif instead? --Espoo (talk) 22:56, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Printer-side "print screen"
[edit]Some printers, e.g. latest in Samsung ML range, have a printer-side "print screen" function, where you can press a button on the printer and it will grab the screen display from the computer and print it. Just thought I'd mention this as it seems slightly relevant to the article. 82.113.148.68 (talk) 12:11, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
No printer connected
[edit]Under MSDOS if there was no printer connected pressing this button caused the computer to stop (and wait). QuentinUK (talk) 09:43, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
