Protestant decline in Ireland
[edit]This article is about the state that is officially called Ireland, officially described as the Republic of Ireland, hence the page title. That entity is essentially the same as the Irish Free State. Any earlier figures are included solely as comparison. The page title may be changed anyways however until I finish working on the bulk of the article and maybe trimming some stuff down, I will seek a community consensus on what name to use for the article. Until then Gob Lofa I suggest improving your Ulster Protestants article. Mabuska (talk) 22:07, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
- I'd change the title. Gob Lofa (talk) 22:21, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
- Once you've done that, I'd be happy to collaborate with you on a Protestant decline in Ireland article; your first image shows a clear decline in a large chunk of NI that isn't covered here. For some reason. Gob Lofa (talk) 00:02, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
- I see you've been editing the article again, but why haven't you moved it? If you don't, I don't see how you're going to avoid edits that help the article more resemble its current title. Gob Lofa (talk) 08:00, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
- Do you need reading lessons? My comment and the article lede explicitly states that this article refers to the state of Ireland not the island so why would it go on about Northern Ireland for? Mabuska (talk) 10:39, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
- You told me lastnight you were seeking consensus on the title. What's changed? Gob Lofa (talk) 10:55, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
- Again I ask, do you need reading lessons or do you see things that don't exist? Who said that seeking a consensus on a title had anything to do with extending the scope outside of the 26 counties? This article is and the foreseeable future about the state. Mabuska (talk) 11:26, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Considering how much of the content now focuses on the reversal of the decline, the new article name seems more appropriate and avoids issues of confusion with the island which you had. Mabuska (talk) 15:10, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- By the way if you are genuine in wanting to develop the Protestant decline in Ireland article then it will need a talk page... Mabuska (talk) 21:24, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Proposed merge with Protestant decline in Ireland
[edit]I don't think anybody's going to argue with me about this. Protestantism in the Republic of Ireland has an empty section over there for this, and this article is a stub. I'm just not sure how you guys want to do it. Compassionate727 (talk) 17:22, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- I will. It's a stub right now; give it time. Gob Lofa (talk) 17:50, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- I created that article however a few hours ago moved the entirety of it to Protestantism in the Republic of Ireland as a copy-and-paste as the namespace already existed as a redirect so I couldn't simply move it. Scolaire recently informed me of what I should do to remedy the issues with cut and paste jobs. I redirected this page to that article, however Gob Lofa for whatever reason decided to recreate this namespace as an article despite the fact the whole topic is covered in the Protestantism in the Republic of Ireland article and is thus creating needless redundancy.
To fix the copy and paste issue I am going to restore this article to the way it was before I moved the content and reinsert the merge request.- Support merging with this article as Gob Lofa is simply creating redundancy. Mabuska (talk) 18:29, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- How could the whole topic be covered at PITROI? PITROI only covers five-sixths of Ireland, and then only after 1922. Gob Lofa (talk) 18:35, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- Needless redundancy. The vast bulk of the article will simply be a copy of this one. Detailing the whole island can easily be done in a new section at Protestantism in Ireland where it would be more than applicable, with this article providing further information on the status in the RoI. Religion in Northern Ireland can detail the NI specifics more to help beef that article up. If that page survives then by all means try your best, however article quality should be sought rather than a mass of needless articles. This article was only creating as there was too much stuff for the main Protestantism in Ireland article. Mabuska (talk) 18:50, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- I added a history merge request to sort out the copy and paste issue of my own work and page histories. Mabuska (talk) 18:54, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- Also, Gob Lofa, the issue with stubs is that they usually stay that way. Compassionate727 (talk) 13:00, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- Give me a month with it, it won't be a stub. Gob Lofa (talk) 23:30, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- How about it? Gob Lofa (talk) 08:33, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
