His partner Arthur Michael Wolfe has an article and this has an equivalent article in German. Under the name "R Sachs" or "R. K. Sachs" he gets tons of Google Scholar hits.[1][2]--T. Anthony (talk) 00:14, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Death

[edit]

Rainer Sachs died on 16th April 2024. I intend to note this in the article. No doubt a reliable source for this information will be available soon, but at present I am dependent on personal information, as he was my father in law. Having been a Wikipedia editor since 2006 and an administrator since 2010 I am, of course, well aware of the policy on citing sources and of the guideline on conflict of interest, and if anyone reverts my edit for those reasons, I will not edit-war over it. However, if anyone thinks of doing so, I ask them to first consider the following. Wikipedia's policies and guidelines are policies and guidelines, not rules, and they are there for purposes. The guideline on conflict of interest is intended to prevent biased editing; I can think of no reason why anyone should think that a simple statement of his death might be biased by my connection to him. The policy on sourcing is intended to prevent misinformation in articles; I don't believe that anyone who has made even a cursory examination of my editing history might think I am likely to be lying about this. I therefore invite you to leave my edit in place until a reliable source becomes available, which I expect will be soon, though, as I said above, I will not edit-war if for some reason you decide not to do so. There is now a reliable source announcing Sachs's death at https://physics.berkeley.edu/news/remembering-rainer-sachs. Can someone without a COI please add a citation to the article? JBW (talk) 10:09, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
