Merge
[edit]I proposed merging Cylindrosporium rubi into this article because some authorities consider them synonymous.[1] Does anyone object Plantdrew, Klbrain? Invasive Spices (talk) 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Fine with me; as I understand, Sphaerulina is the sexual morph and Cylindrosporium the asexual,[2] so the proposed merge would be fine. Klbrain (talk) 17:08, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- The asexual morph has nomenclatural priority, but names for asexual morphs shouldn't displace names for sexual morphs without being considered on a case by case basis. I don't think that consideration has happened; it's not clear which name will eventually be treated as the correct one, but they are the same thing. Merging is fine for now, and which name to is to be presented most prominently will have to be revisited at some point. Plantdrew (talk) 17:20, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- I have merged them. Invasive Spices (talk) 1 December 2022 (UTC)
