Reasons for move/rename to Raster graphics editor
[edit]Raster was the term used 10 years before bitmap came into use. Bitmap redirects to Raster graphics. Raster is used more often than bitmap on Wikipedia. Bitmap could be confused with the Windows bitmap file format. [Raster and vector] go together better than [Bitmap and vector] and the two prior Google searches support that statement. If my reasoning for moving this page is incorrect I'm sorry to cause you so much trouble and please leave me a message on my talk page telling me why I was wrong so that I won't mess up again in the future. Fair Use Images?
[edit]In the licensing template attached to both of the screenshot images, it says that the image uses are believed to qualify as fair use: for identification of and critical commentary on the software in question
I fail to see how depicting a particular implementation of a type of software qualifies as "critical commentary."
While I do see how these images clearly enhance the article, I don't understand how the specifically-worded license terms are met.

- Good point. There's also the fact that, according to Wikipedia's fair use policy, fair use images shouldn't be used where free alternatives are available. I've accordingly replaced the images in the article with free screenshots. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 15:47, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize. I didn't know that screenshots of proprietary programs could only be used when its needed to critique the program. Maybe I can get that screenshot put into the free domain by Helicon, but what kind of license would I put for the screenshot that I should ask for?Althepal 06:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Rewrite may 2014
[edit]This article is so miserable, IMO, it need to be rewritten from scratch.
- Maybe the article image editing can help.
- one could further differentiate between light-weight and full blown editors, and ones specialized in manipulating digital photographs. User:ScotXWt@lk 17:41, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
