Unsatisfactory

[edit]

1988 is a tricky year as the Racing Post's records are incomplete and there isn't much online from European news sources. Did Ravinella run in any other races at two? How did the All Along Stakes fit into her 3yo program? What happened to her after 1989? Tigerboy1966  19:45, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Might be able to help on this one as I have Sporting Life Flat Results In Full books from 1985 on, plus some other books from that time. Will see what I can turn up. --Bcp67 (talk) 20:07, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Finally got around to digging out the Sporting Life books but it has proved fruitless. Disappointing for 1989, where it gives only her fifth place in the All Along Stakes, nothing else. For 1987 we have the Cheveley Park, the Prix d'Arenberg and a missing race! The d'Arenberg result shows her previous race numbered 3396, a win, but the book goes straight from 3394 to 3397. Looking at the dates it was either Monday 21 September, the date of the Prix Seine-et-Oise at Maisons Laffitte, or Tuesday 22nd September, but that's where the trail goes cold. So she certainly ran in one other race in 1987, but no idea what it was or whether she ran in anything else - the book records all UK races and I think all European pattern races but not always much else.

For 1988, it lists all seven races which you have covered here, so not really sure that I can add anything to the article at all, sorry.--Bcp67 (talk) 20:36, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for your efforts. I wonder if I could make another request. Can you look up Diminuendo in 1987. She was unbeaten in four races: a maiden a Leicester in June, the Cherry Hinton, the Fillies Mile and another race. Any details not currently in the article, but especially the missing race. Tigerboy1966  17:03, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Added the extra race, which was a 6f conditions race on the July Course. None of the beaten participants were worth noting from what I could see. --Bcp67 (talk) 04:57, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Timeform Racehorses of 1987 arrived today. The missing race was the Prix de Lisieux. Tigerboy1966  18:14, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Doh! Got that on my shelf in the loft - the only Timeform annual I possess, mainly purchased out of a passion for Warning, who never entirely repaid my faith in him! Bcp67 (talk) 07:51, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Got it on ebay together with the 86 edition, for under a tenner. I've already used them to plug two classic gaps with Unite (horse) and Don't Forget Me (horse). Tigerboy1966  11:44, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
