Rating scale
[edit]As to the quality scale, I would say this article is a C. It needs to have the errors fixed, the references cited (more than one! Clans always have lots of info books!), to be wikified and to be rewritten in an "out of character" style.
As to importance, I looked at things like a hierarchy as the article said to do- Vampire: The Masqurade (top), Clans in V:TM (high), Bloodlines in V:TM (Mid). As Gangrel is a Clan and in V:TM Clans are crucial to the game, it's high.

Ravnos Play Tips
[edit]- If you can track down a copy of Clanbook Ravnos, you will find a ton of excellent source material and ideas.
- If your character is older, consider adding some backstory as a Gypsy in Europe - plenty of good adventures to be had there. Check out the Wiki entry for Roma people for some historically significant events in the last few centuries...remember that Gypsies were rounded up by the Nazis in WWII to be sent to concentration camps. Lose a few close friends and family members, kill a bunch of Nazis, instant character development.
- If your character is younger, consider a more modern vagabond archtype - the movie Snatch features a group of Irish Travellers, or Pikeys, who would make a great Ravnos pack - fun movie, if you haven't seen it.
- The Ravnos fits neatly into the Rogue slot for an adventuring party - use Animalism for gathering intel and infiltration, and Chimerstry to get around guards.
- A mischievous Ravnos has all kinds of potential. As the clan is not well known, you could simply claim to be from whatever clan suits the occasion, backing it up with illusions if necessary. Tell outrageous lies. Save it for the NPCs, you don't want the other players to get sick of you, but take every opportunity to confuse the locals.
- Talk to your storyteller about a running gag regarding kleptomania - arrange it so that your character attempts to steal something worthless every time they're a guest - meeting with a Primogen, Police interrogation, courting a young lady...your character always walks away with their pen, or a puzzle piece, or a badge... To keep the story moving along, make sure the whole thing is handled ahead of time by the Storyteller, so there isn't a lot of rolling - but you find things in your pocket later, or the Prince reminds you to leave the teacup for the butler to clean up. Just a running gag, but it makes the character fun.
- Accents are a great way to fill out a character. [George Mason University] has a searchable database for drama students, if you'd like to really get your Romanian (or whatever) accent down, but a little goes a long way. Try and pick a couple of sounds that your character will mispronounce, or words that they get wrong every time. Even better - your character might be faking it, giving him an in-joke and you an excuse for being inaccurate or inconsistent.
- With storyteller permission, you may be able to use Animalism to create a ghouled familiar - a pet or wild animal, tougher then normal, loyal to the point of psychosis and capable of communicating with you. An NPC raven, for example, that ghosts along behind you at night and warns you of ambushes. Again, it should be a style touch instead of a big edge, but style touches make characters fun.

Notability Explanation and Disagreement about Merging and / or Deletion
[edit]The "Clans" in Vampire are equivalent to the character classes in Dungeons and Dragons, they are NOT just a story element. As wiki deems fit to allow the character classes of Dungeons and Dragons to have their own articles (Bard (Dungeons & Dragons), etc), there is no reason why the "character classes" of another exceedingly popular pen-and-paper RPG are not notable enough to have their own articles. Even more so since they ARE both Character Classes AND major elements of the story.
In addition, considering the large amounts of background info and game-based info on each of the clans, it is NOT feasible to merge them all into one article. In fact, if we were to do so the resulting article would be too big and then go against Wiki standards.
