Suspension

[edit]

A red card in football doesn't mean an automatic three game suspension, nor do two yellow cards mean a game suspension. The competition judiciary can issue a whole range of follow-ups, such as no further suspension at all (which often happens when the red card had been given by the referee's mistake) or a "trial" period for the player during which they must not receive any other red card or their trial period would be turned into suspension.

Why do red-carded players get suspended? Isn't the offending player's team being stuck with ten punishment enough? Scott Gall 01:54, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History?

[edit]

Does anyone know about the history of the card system? 68.90.189.160 10:54, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
