The sentence, "Succinctly, the representation ring of G is the Grothendieck ring of the category of finite-dimensional representations of G." is only accurate if the group ring of G is semisimple. If there exists a non-split short exact sequence in the category of representations of G, then the Grothendieck ring has relations that the definition given here for the representation ring doesn't have.

Also, the Grothendieck ring link currently redirects to G-ring which is not the intended meaning. Issai1875 (talk) 20:00, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
