Opinionated[edit]

"Italian music in the 1990s and 2000s has produced and continues to produce some of the most brilliant music in the world. This includes Almamegretta, Raiz, Tiromancino, Ustmamo, Subsonica, Speedjackers, The Sun Eats Hours, Negrita, Gabin, Planet Funk, Negramaro, Meganoidi, Verdena and a woman in her own category Giorgia one of the world's finest pop/soul/blues/jazz singers. Even on the pop front Milanese duo Paola & Chiara have proven how interesting packaged pop can be when it has a rich Latin tapestry over what is pumped out in the UK or USA."

Some pretty opinionated language here for an encyclopedia article! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.212.218.245 (talk) 04:23, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The link to Riaz goes to a page about a martial arts move. -nick

Um, this article is slightly off, methinks. It starts out well, but it gets very opinionated and full of vernacular toward the end. The very last part even goes into Pop and Jazz, completely irrelevent in an article about Rock. I suggest cleanup. 68.102.179.135 03:01, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements[edit]

So many missing artists and some messy: a good starting poit but lot more to do... Suggest to create sections, for decades and different rock subgenres...

Rita Pavone[edit]

It's a pity that Rita Pavone isn't mentioned. For me one of the first rock women of Italia and influenced the Brazilian rock too. She is very important for the Italian rock! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.47.150.35 (talk) 15:42, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

*some suggestion from an Italian*[edit]

Adriano Celentano is the first man to sing rock and roll in Italian and the first Italian to sing original rock songs (I mean not covers). I'm sure he deserves a mention.

In the 60s psychedelyc and beat deserve a citation at least the Equipe 84 and i Giganti

in the 70s the Area!!!!! (with his great vocalist Demetrio Stratos)

The 1980s group affinita is never existed (check on search engines, youtube, wikipedia, ...). It is instead the first word of a CCCP title album.

There are artists in the final list that are of no importance for the Italian music (expecially for the rock one) like The Electric Diorama...

Moreover, many of them are METAL... nothing against metal but (even if everybody agree that metal derives from the rock music) usually metal is classified separately. Think to Aborym, Belladonna, Catarrhal Noise, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Forgotten Tomb, Graveworm, Opera IX, Rhapsody of Fire.

I Cani are pretty brand new to be mentioned (one album, a couple of years of activity, they're not bad but there are tons of groups not listed here)

Missing: One Dimensional Man and the actual brother project Il Teatro Degli Orrori (3 Teatro albums), the Pordenone scene (3 allegri ragazzi morti, prozac+, sick tamburo),

Negazione are hardcore

Punkreas and Pornoriviste are more punk than rock (I mean more relevant for the punk scene). I'm sure that there other groups as relevant as them.

Since there are here also punk and metal, think about a mention for the reggae bands (Africa Unite are epic, Alborosie, ...), ska (a bunch in the 90s, the first one is Statuto, but they were many more).

CITE ALSO the folk-rock band Modena City Ramblers! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.84.147.10 (talk) 15:36, 5 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
