Slang term removed from article

[edit]

I removed the slang term that the article claimed is used for rollovers. I do not think that it adds to the article to mention it. Unless it is regularly substituted for the term "rollover", in contexts that Wikipedia users are likely to encounter, like the Wall Street Journal, or a TV show on the market, then it is not worthwhile. If it is used by the hip traders in bars close to Wall Street, then new traders can go into those situations and learn the lingo themselves. There is likely a website or two out there that has all of the essentials. Adding the term to Wikipedia would give it more credibility as an alleged term, but it would not add much value for readers. I think that I would feel the same way if the term was not awful, but I suppose that I might not feel so strongly about it. While the term is awful, the website used as a reference makes it far more awful by suggesting that it is simply a humiliating experience. If it happened to any one of us, I doubt we would say such a thing. In addition, to suggest that a victim of it should feel humiliation in any way by virtue of such an attack is also sickening. If the consensus here, or as decided elsewhere as a kind of precedent for this situation, is against my position, then feel free to revert my edit. I am aware that Wikipedia is not censored, and I am fine with all the explicit stuff, as you do not want kids to learn from friends, porn, or their friends who do porn. I just do not think that it directly applies in this situation. -- Kjkolb (talk) 04:47, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
