Mechanical power for Gravity ropeways[edit]

Re recemt edits: "Mechanical power" to me implies that external electrical or mechanical energy is used in the hoisting of the empty basket. In a simplisitic view, large stones from the top are used to bring the empty basket up to the top. The stones remain at the base and then gravity pulls the loaded one down (possibly with braking, frictional or otherwise, to control the rate of descent). Or I suppose water could be used for this purpose. (I have no firshand knowledge but did view from a distance the big one into Kathmandu as a tourist in the 1990's.)
