Rowley Corridor Antarctica

David N Rowley flew Dehavilland Twin Otter and Turbo Beaver aircraft for the British Antarctic Survey from 1969 to 1974. He was the first civilian commercial pilot to be employed by the Survey. All previous pilots were seconded from the Royal Air Force , but after several incidents of aircraft losses and conflicts entailing authority on base between R A F officers civilian base members , the Survey decided that a change was needed in the way that the air unit was run and organised
