I would like to propose that the SU-100, SU-85 and SU-122 be merged into a single article. The vehicles are basically the same differing guns. Oberiko 15:35, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Front armour[edit]

LostArtilleryman, where do you get the armour figures? The table in Zaloga & Grandsen, Soviet Tanks and Combat Vehicles of World War Two, (p. 179) lists hull front 45 mm, hull side 45, hull rear 45, hull roof 20, hull bottom 20, all the same as the SU-122 and SU-85, and the text description makes no mention of up-armouring. Could this be a later upgrade, or a figure referring specifically to the gun mantlet and not hull armour? —Michael Z. 2005-11-8 16:27 Z

The front armour figures was taken from Russian book A. Solyankin, I. Zheltov, M. Zheltov, I. Pavlov // Soviet medium self propelled guns 1941-1945. All other Russian experts (Svirin, Baryatinskiy etc.) confirms this. Probably, some SU-85 was rearmed during repair by D-10S and these vehicles really had 45 mm front armour. I can upload to Wikipedia scans from these books to solve this question. All my native language sources contain 75 mm front armour thickness. LostArtilleryman 17:36, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

King Tiger?[edit]

This was quite capable of defeating any German tank in service with the exception of the King Tiger - the source for this (in Russian) does not really mention any exceptions, it simply states that it could defeat any German armor. This is doubtful to say the least, naturally. I think the real capabilities should be given here instead. Shorr (talk) 18:25, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Invasion of Ukraine??[edit]

Wat?? I know hohols lost the last remaining of their brains but such bullshit? I don't know why Russian Army if it wanted to invade would use museum vehicles but rather big group of them was shown on Parade 9 May. 85.140.0.87 (talk) 09:57, 17 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed that ridiculous part of the text as it is based on an extremely unreliable source not supported by any evidence whatsoever; it is not clear as to where and when the old tank destroyers featured in the video were actually filmed, but it is well known that the last remaining SU-100s and T-34s participate in the annual Victory Day parade in Russia, so there is nothing unusual about them being transferred by rail to repair locations, from one place to another, etc. Eriba-Marduk (talk) 12:04, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
