Order of events in a sale

The normal order is pay then own, really the only difference from this is when it's a non-transaction of some kind such as informal friends and family financing. When a regular lender is involved the real buyer doesn't get ownership for an extended period. In actual common law practice the whole transaction is in suspense until the mutual consideration exchange has completed.
