Having created this article, I've lost confidence in the source I used for the tunnels length (structurae.net). The source claims a length of 1,728 metres, but checking a couple of maps suggests this a gross over-estimate, and that the likely length is somewhere between 600 and 700 metres. But I cannot find another reliable source. I would have thought that somewhere either the Swiss or Ticino governments must have a definative list (after all, they must inspect and maintain the thing) but I cannot find it. Can anybody help. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 10:02, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Having just checked the parallel and (according to google maps, pretty well co-terminous) rail tunnel, for which I have a reliable source of 569 metres (1,867 ft), I'm beginning to suspect that structurae.net may have got their feet and metres mixed up. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 10:37, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This tunnel is around 650 m long. There is another tunnel slightly north on the same motorway (between Melide and Grancia) around 1700 m long - so Structurae might be referring to this. Coccodrillo (talk) 15:46, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
