Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because Shiva Shrestha refers to Shiva Shrestha (footballer), for some reasion this page was recently moved. Shiva Shrestha is the primary name and the article should be moved back--Inter&anthro (talk) 16:17, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't expect it to be controversial. My apologies. Shiva Shrestha refers to Shiva Shrestha, the actor, who is wrongly placed under Shiv Shrestha. My intention was to move that page here as the clearly more notable namesake. But, I suppose, we'll have to have a discussion to build consensus on that. Inter&anthro, let's settle this, please. Please indicate if you have the time, or when you will have the time. If your only concern was that I was apparently being hasty or unilateral (or had COI), I can assure you that I am here in good faith with only the intention to improve the encyclopedia, and have no preference for either of the two subjects who have a claim to this title. As I said, my initial (unilateral) action was predicated on my initial assumption that both articles didn't have any active editors curating them and my assessment that the actor is clearly more notable than the footballer. I am quite new here, I would be happy to be corrected with well-reasoned arguments about what's the correct way to proceed. If you do not have a personal opinion on the matter and only wish my intended action had oversight, please indicate what would be the right path to resolving this (obviously not CSD, so some kind of deletion discussion or something?). Thanks! Usedtobecool ✉️  10:31, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Usedtobecool: I don't bear any animosity twords you and never doubted that you edits were made in good faith, I think this all stems from a misunderstanding I had. I thought that Shiva was the footballer's proper name and Shiv was the actor's proper name. As it turns out both of there actual names are Shiva (there full names are hence identical). There are two possible solutions to this I forsee: 1.) Shiv Shrestha is moved to Shiva Shrestha (actor) and the page Shiva Shrestha is kept as a disambiguation page refereeing to Shiva Shrestha (actor) and Shiva Shrestha (footballer) 2.) Shiv Shrestha is moved to Shiva Shrestha and the article of the footballer is kept where it is.
Personally I would suggest the first option because although the actor Shiva seems to be more popular than the footballer Shiva, the former's article is still a stub. Taking the second option would mean that one of the subjects is more notable than the other, but it is still a viable option is that can be proven and the article about the actor can be expanded. Inter&anthro I was planning to notify you here but you have already found out, LOL! I decided to go with your suggestion. As you said, there's really not much in the actor article and it's likely that we'll have yet another Shiva Shrestha article by the time that's reasonably expanded, so I decided to opt for DAB despite there being only two people. Kinda weird, sending people to a two-entries DAB from an article, instead of the other article, but think this might be a more permanent solution. Thanks, See you around!
