Fair use rationale for Image:Signum-Nanoha.JPG

[edit]

Image:Signum-Nanoha.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

My oppinion, ok, i am totally confused as to what's going on here, and at the moment, i have no real side to pick with, but this is my own 2 cents... I think we, the nanoha fans, deserve to know the german -> english translations of Signums attacks... they're nice little tid-bits of info that just make everything more fun... why would you get rid of them? were they false? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ninjagal6 (talkcontribs) 03:24, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The translations were accurate, similar to translations of Japanese names and phrases on Wikipedia that don't require a source so long as they're literal, which these were. Buspar (talk) 07:45, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we need a source saying if it's accurate or not. Nothing indicates Buspar is a german user. If anyone can "translate" as he wants and without giving any guarantees...Folken de Fanel (talk) 23:04, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
aha! ok i get it now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ninjagal6 (talkcontribs) 14:38, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, heck, this is Wikipedia... anyone can state anything without giving any guarantees! It's up to the rest of us to watchdog. :) They're roughly accurate, at any rate. I'm no german expert or anything, but I'd take issue with a few of them as not necessarily translating for sense. For example, I'm not certain whether Vita's "Panzer Hindernis" would really mean "barrier which is armored", "barrier made of armor", or "barrier against armored vehicles (colloquially, "tank trap"). I'd have to ask a native speaker. Not that I think the creators even put this much thought into it... -Aubri (talk) 22:28, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Signum's name

[edit]

I've reverted the edit that said that Signum Needes was her full name as it was a fansub error.

Signum was introducing herself as First Lieutenant Signum. First Lieutenant is pronounced as "Nii" in Japanese. So really, what she said was "Signum nii desu."Source: http://community.livejournal.com/nanoha/21640.html?thread=50056#t50056 Sigunamu (talk) 05:49, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

German Translation

[edit]

The Belka Knights' shielding spells use the word "panzer", which is translated as "tank" on these pages. "Panzer" literally means "armor", not "tank"; battle tanks are called "panzer" for short, because the full word is "panzerkampfwagen", "armored battle wagon". (Babelfish is often wrong on this point.) I've changed them to reflect this. Please revert the change if this is contradicted by canon documents -- heaven knows the director has some language issues. "Raising" Heart indeed... :p -Aubri (talk) 22:20, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
