Cast and characters section
[edit]I recently removed some info about some characters' appearances from the chart, arguing that "appearances as photographs in short films are not appearances"
, but @Zucat: reinstalled it. I think mentioning certain characters solely appearing as a photograph (instead of a silent role, i.e. which is noted in the Despicable Me franchise article) is trivial and relevant to a small group of people; from the previous article, mentioning which characters appeared in a film/short film but that had no voice role denotes that these characters appeared but were not voiced by their respective actors, photographs usually don't talk (and if they did in an entry, it'd count as a proper appearance) so I don't think it's relevant to note their apperance as a photograph. -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 21:20, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- Let me remind you that Sing is an "Animated" franchise, the rules for character appearances are a lot more flexible compared to a live action franchise. Photographs of animated characters still technically count as appearances because animated characters can be implemented almost anywhere due to the medium they exist in. Live-action franchises are a lot more complicated and strict since the characters are actual people and photographs of said characters can either be done using an unofficial caracature or sometimes an uncredited stand-in, losing a lot of validity in the process.
And you propose the photograph appearances be removed, yet you choose to keep the silent cameo role? By your previously mentioned logic, the silent cameo appearance you kept could also be seen as "Irreverent" or "Trivial" since there's no voice actor in place of the character. And what about the Photograph or Portrait appearances on LITERALLY every other animated film series article that has existed on Wikipedia for years? Are you saying we get rid of the photo appearances on those too? I'm not saying you proposal is ridiculous, but I see a lot of error in it. You have to be new to this side of Wikipedia. - I was going to said I am yet to see other franchise articles using this photograph/portrait mention, but it seem it is in use in other franchise articles (such as Hotel Transylvania (franchise)), I do still think these kind of appearances are less notable than silent roles/cameos -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 00:51, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
Possible sequel
[edit]There has been additions of comments made by McConaughey to Cinemablend about a possible Sing 3, so I want to remember there was a similar discussion in the Secret Life of Pets 2 article and it was agreed that they shouldn't be added to the main article citing WP:CRYSTAL, I quote from the original discussion: "Please see WP:CRYSTAL and try to avoid speculation. Actors are unlikely to say bad things before a film has been released. Actors are often tied into multi-film contracts and are still unlikely to say bad things even after a film bombs."
If Jennings or Chris Melenandri have something to say about a Sing sequel I believe that is more appropiate to be added to the article than McConaughey's comments -Gouleg🛋️ harass/hound 18:39, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
