Royal Blood

[edit]

Why is it that no one ever mentions William Carey's royal blood? It gets assumed often that Mary Boleyn was married off to some minor nobody after her French adventures, but William Carey was 3rd cousin to Henry VIII and held the favoured and intimate position of Gentleman of the Privy Chamber - a much-vied-for position in Tudor times.

Even if you just glance at the ancestry given in this article you see that his great-great-grandfather was John Beaufort, the eldest son of John of Gaunt by Katherine Swynford. Carey's maternal grandmother was Eleanor Beaufort, a 1st cousin of Lady Margaret Beaufort, the matriarch of the Tudor Dynasty.

Rather than being very minor gentry with no position Carey was of royal blood and an intimate of his cousin Henry's. Had he not died so young, we might have seen great things from him. History Lunatic (talk) 04:25, 17 November 2012 (UTC)History Lunatic[reply]

Judith Carey

[edit]

Did William Carey have a daughter named Judith? What I can find on ancestry.com suggests so. Judith seems to be the wife of Thomas Dickinson, an ancestor of Emily Dickinson the poet. 71.173.18.154 (talk) 04:48, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
