The current skeuomorph page was getting bogged down by references, so we decided to separate out the list of notable skeuomorphs from the description of the design term for clarity. Shanepusz (talk) 04:06, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest following the In Popular Culture" content [1] to add or remove items on this list. Shanepusz (talk) 04:06, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The title may not be the most relevant one for this list, but given the guidelines used to create it, it seemed appropriate at the time. Title change is up for discussion Shanepusz (talk) 04:06, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Shanepusz. When you say "The current skeuomorph page was getting bogged down by references" I take it you mean by examples? So you've moved them to this page. The skeuomorph article could be improved but I'm not sure how splitting it in two is going to help. Looking at the WP how-to guide on splitting articles, it seems like the recommended practice would be not to split the the skeuomorph article. It is neither too long nor does it contain divergent content. --Cornellier (talk) 13:51, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Cornellier, thanks for your advice. Right, I defintely mispoke earlier and meant examples. As discussed in the other article talk page, we thought this would be the least confusing way for new users to gain information on skeuomorphism. I would be fine in merging this list back into the main article, if we were to keep it separate from the body text. We thought there were too many examples without much logic behind them in the original article, which would be confusing to many users. I can see now that this may not be the optimum layout, but I do still think the list should be kept separate from the main body. Cheers, Shanepusz (talk) 02:30, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback Shanepusz. Long-term I'm still not sure that skeuomorph needs two articles, but I think you and Sarahild and K8 fan have a good point that the skeuomorph is a victim of its own popularity. If this page is not merged back to the main article, I suggest it be renamed to "List of skeumorphs". Also I think that every example should be referenced. Set a precedent so people don't keep adding new ones as they think of them. (As I have done, I took the picture of the flooring in my local DIY store :-) ) --Cornellier (talk) 23:10, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pop culture criteria[edit]

The top of the article has the comment "We propose following the Wikipedia Pop Culture criteria to add or remove objects on this list." Where are they? Do you just mean Pop culture the article? Cause it says that pop culture is "heavily influenced by mass media, this collection of ideas permeates the everyday lives of the society." I don't think you can say that about skeuomorphs, another reason why this article should just be called List of skeuomorphs. --Cornellier (talk) 23:24, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why does this exist?[edit]

I got here from Skeumorph and, in addition to not really adding any information that that article doesn't have, it also doesn't really fit into what I'd nominally call popular culture. That's on top of being the kind of Popular Culture content fork that wikipedia started doing away with years ago. What's up with this? 12.174.154.146 (talk) 22:33, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

See my comments above. Should be merged back to skeuomorph. --Cornellier (talk) 23:31, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That was 3 years ago! 12.174.154.146 (talk) 16:00, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah sorry I was stuck in traffic. --Cornellier (talk) 17:33, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
