Slovaks and Hungarians
[edit]This article is just demagogy and is very disputable. It offers only one point of view and strongly anti-Slovak. The most flaming lie is the said statement of Miklos Duray: "The oppression of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia gained momentum with the formation of the Slovak state in 1993, increasing even more sharply since Vladimír Mečiar came to power for the third time in December of 1994." It is scandalous defamation. I´m a student at university, I have many hungarian friends, they never said this and never felt like ones who are under the pressure just because they have hungarian nationality. The hatred is coming from hungarian and also slovakian extremists, which is detrimental to both our nations. Slovaks can talk about 19th century when in Habsburg monarchy came to colosal magyarization, and this is a historical fact. It was practiced to all non-magyar nationalities in the part of monarchy, which was called Transleithania after creating Dual monarchy in 1867. But it is a history now. And every normal Slovak knows it and I believe that every normal Hungarian knows it too and doesn´t think that our country is not ours. We were here with Hungarians, when was the Kingdom of medieval Hungary established, in those times nobody felt national malignancy. Even king Stephen encouraged his son Imrich to equitable treatment with all nationalities in his Kingdom, because it leads to prosperity only. History is not always fair, not only to Hungarians in world war, Czechoslovaks can say that Great Britain and French republic bertayed them with Hitler in Munich conference, but now it is history and it was the mistake only of individuals. We have to keep lesson from history, never make the same mistakes, from which the biggest ones are mistakes of national hostility - but there are still some individuals who can´t understand it.This article doesn´t follow neutrality and objectivity. Chosen sources are purpose-built and are from the times of Slovak history which is discutable among Slovak nation, normal people couldn´t move events in this preiod. We must stop extremists who just encourage national hstility in Hungary and also in Slovakia! Agata1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Agata1 (talk • contribs) 13:06, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
We need to discuss the history because that was forbidden -especially history of Hungarians of Czechslovakia- for a long time. Slovakia did not face the true history (ghastly crime of Nazi Slovakia, deported of jewish, assault of Poland or SU, crimes against the Hungarians etc.). Nowadays the true history is a forbidden fruit there. The modern Slovakia is a neo-fascist state where the hungarian minority is just a thing what they have to assimilate into the slovak society. Needs work
[edit]There have been some doubts raised about the style and content of this articel, I do not entierly disagree. It concentrates to much on one group (Hungarians) and also on the post WW2 era too much and needs more balancing in this respect. There is also the issue of Slovakisation before Ww1 which the articel ignores.Slatersteven (talk) 15:39, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi I completely agree with you. I have added smth about history - Slovakized Czech langauge. About "It concentrates to much on one group (Hungarians) and also on the post WW2 era too much and needs more balancing in this respect": I have found articles where its written almost same about Hungarians (almost all from this article about Hungarians but in the shorter version is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarians_in_Slovakia - espetialy the time after WWI; with the time after WWII deals this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czechoslovak-Hungarian_population_exchange ; the present situation is well described in the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungary–Slovakia_relations). Do have anybody an idea how to improve this article? My opinion is to make this article much more shorter and put there disambiguation to primary articles according to this rule WP:PRIMARYTOPIC --CsabaBabba (talk) 06:07, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
No definition of Slovakization
[edit]I miss here definition of Slovakization from reliable and verifiable english source. --Samofi (talk) 19:23, 16 May 2010 (UTC) no books about "Slovakization since the independence of Slovakia", no connection of Slovakization with population exchange. --Samofi (talk) 19:25, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- Wikipedia does not use only English sources. It can use non-English sources wHere no English source exsists. Try Pushing back the boundaries: the European Union and Central and Eastern Europe By Mike Mannin. What you should do is now object to a passage from the articel so we can discuse it and determine if it should be removed.Slatersteven (talk) 22:04, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
