The Snedden family is one of the oldest familys in Scotland origanating from the Viking invasions, the name derevives from Sweedish meaning strengthened one. Recent history of the family show a split in the family wich lead to a new family the Sneddons who changed their surname in 1601 and have generally become the bigger of the two. This is due to the Sneddens who lost alot of their young men in WW1 who served in the Highlander regiments, most of the Snedden men perished in the Great War only leaving a few survivors to continue the family name.
