Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because no where on it is it asking for attention or seeking further acknowledgement of the contents. It merely lists the convention, what it is, it's history of where it came from and how it came to be, and what merchandise it has had in the past.Phoxtank (talk) 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Page has also now been condensed to be more direct and to the point to help keep it from feeling biased or personal.Phoxtank (talk) 24 October 2011 (UTC)
I also potentially could have a COI based on my own involvement with this particular convention, however it is my every intention to keep all of the writing in this article NPOV. If an issue comes up regarding controversial changes (adding or removing positive or negative information) I will be more than willing to have another edit the page for me to make sure that it remains NPOV as well to make sure there are no further issues with this article. It was suggested that I make this disclaimer as to not hide this fact and I have no qualms with this. Phoxtank (talk) 13:36, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I also would like to note that I have made several significant edits to this article to make it more wiki appropriate and added various citations and news articles for notability to give credit to the event. I've been working with Gaijin42 (talk) to help get the article in order and up to standards to hopefully avoid deletion. Phoxtank (talk) 13:51, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Further Adjustments and Edit's have been made to better the article. From initial creation of the article to the current state of the article it has been completely revamped and adjusted to be NPOV and non-promotional to correct original issues found.Phoxtank (talk) 15:21, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Needs better lead

[edit]

The sentence: "The convention programming format consists of one main room dedicated to all major events..." is not very helpful to someone using an encyclopedia to learn about SoDak. I had to look in a dictionary to learn what Amine meant. I would not care about how the rooms were arranged, until I decided to go to a future event.

Watch out for words like "major" and "normally." They can be considered Weasel words.Wikfr (talk) 20:03, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently looking for ways to adjust it to be more fitting. I've also looked at various other conventions that were added to wiki and they're all pretty similar to this as well. Nan Desu Kan , Sogen Con , and a few other's from the list that was added to the bottom of the SoDak Con article. I'm not trying to claim that this makes it correct, just trying to give further examples from where the initial intention of the article was coming from. -- Will also be much more careful about weasel words in the future, thank you for the advice! Have adjusted lead and wording to better explain event and hopefully edited out all weasel words. Phoxtank (talk) 14:30, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
