I have removed the reference to Philip Snowden leaving the SDF for the ILP. There is no mention in either Colin Cross' Philip Snowden or Keith Laybourn's Philip Snowden: a biography of Snowden ever being a member of the SDF. Nicke L 3 July 2005 12:40 (UTC)

A question.

[edit]

The article states quite clearly that; Those joining the SDF included William Morris, George Lansbury and Eleanor Marx. Those joining the SDF included William Morris, George Lansbury and Eleanor Marx. However, Friedrich Engels, Karl Marx's long-term collaborator, refused to support Hyndman's venture.'

However there seems to be no elaboration on why Engels objected to joining the party anywhere (the above statement is repeated almost exactly in the article on Henry Hyndman and there is no mention on the article for Engels). I was wondering if someone who knows could either reply to this or edit the page to explain better.

The Socialist

[edit]

User WarOfDreams claims that The socialist wasn't an official SDF newspaper. Is there any evidence of this? Apollo The Logician (talk) 14:11, 27 December 2016 (UTC) Apollo The Logician (talk) 14:11, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We've got an article on it, The Socialist (SLP newspaper). It's under-referenced but sets out the basic details. Warofdreams talk 14:25, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
