Plan to edit article as part of university assignment[edit]

Hello, I am going to edit this article as part of a university assignment until around the 23rd of February. This would be my first time editing a Wikipedia article. I will be using mostly review articles from Google Scholar, PubMed, and other freely-accessible sources. I plan to describe the SSAS in more detail, expand on symptomatology, and add various traits of SSA as well as other conditions it is linked to. I would be glad to listen to anybody offering suggestions towards how to structure the article or where to find sources. I have added my contribution - I used as many relevant reviews as I could find and I tried to convey the information available as accurately as possible, while citing where needed. This page needs work[edit]

There are a few contradictions in this article, enough that it would make a reader wonder if somatosensory amplification is even a real and true medical issue. Within the first section the legitimacy of this condition is invalidated by the admission that "It is unclear whether persons with SSA have a truly increased physiological sensitivity to bodily sensations." If it is unknown whether people with SSA actually have increased physiological sensitivity then one cannot make the judgement that their somatic experience is excessive.

"SSA has features of an enduring trait, but it is also state-like." Even though this is sourced it remains a complete contradiction. Perhaps it would be better to refer to sources that have a concrete consensus. Psilacetin (talk) 07:22, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
