I would like to get some information and history on this paticular item as it looks as though it may have been is a fire due to the fact that the knob is alittle melted. I would really appreciate some help. thankyou Carrie l. Green. cloudy62001@yahoo.com

Sperry Gyroscope in the UK
Can anyone clarify the history in the UK? Bracknell, Berkshire today has a gyroscope sculpture that commemorates a Sperry Gyroscope plant which was one of the town's largest employers in the 1950s and 60s. This became part of British Aerospace. I'm not clear how this fits the history as described in the article. Pterre (talk) 10:17, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Patent theft
"The company was founded in 1910 as the Sperry Gyroscope Company by Elmer Ambrose Sperry to manufacture navigation equipment, chiefly his own inventions" - that is definitely NOT true. The German engineer Anschuetz-Kaempfe was the inventor of those compasses. The German patent was much older. --141.91.129.2 (talk) 09:20, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
"To offer some calm perspective on the above accusation: Actually, the author was contrasting the personal techical involvement of engineering-trained Elmer Sperry with the heirarchy untilized by inventors of comparable imagination but less skill such as Edison and Anschutz-Kempfe (who was educated in in history and medicine). If the patent controversy was quite as simple as comparing two dates then why did the suit in British and German courts drag on from 1915 thru 1917, all during WWI? In fact, the matter was so challenging that Anschutz-Kaempfe called on Albert Einstein for support as an expert witness. Sperry won in Britain and the USA but lost in Germany. It is a fascinating story. A good source: "Einstein in Context", Beller, Cohen, and Renn, Cambridge University Press, 1993. Errors in infobox?
I'm new at Wikipedia so don't how to add or correct something. However, I wanted to look up whatever happened to the Sperry building in Brooklyn. I went to high school across Tillary Street from the plant in the mid-60's. At that time, the plant was occupied by Howard Clothes, a defunct clothing chain. Two things jumped out at me from author Ktr101's info box. Corporate HQ is listed as Lake Pleasant, NY, way upstate NY. I think the entry should read Lake Success, NY. Also, the website given is comcast.com. I don't think there should be an entry for web site, as Unisys was around before the WWW. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.84.214.75 (talk) 23:04, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
