the statement that this church is the largest in canada east of quebec city is not even close to being true. st. michael's seats 1200 people according to this article, and the basilican of st. john the baptist in st. john's, newfoundland seats more than double this number-it is listed here as seating 2500: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_of_St._John_The_Baptist

The statement was true before Newfoundland joined Confederation in 1949.


Correction needed....1, in reguards to above statement. Notre Dame de L'Assomtion in Moncton NB is also larger, yet the article is correct in that is uses the phrasing "one of the largest" 2. This is not part of the diosese of Bathurst. It is part of the diosese of Saint John, NB. (174.115.55.99 (talk) 08:18, 17 March 2011 (UTC))
