Nauseated

[edit]

I recall from this book that Newman made the distinction between the words nauseated and naseaous. He suggests, I think correctly, that when I'll, we feel nauseated, not naseaous. He said it was like being bitten by a snake does not make us poisonous, but poisoned. If we are naseaous, we are the source of someone being nauseated. I always loved this distinction and still cringe when educated people, and online dictionaries, suggest that feeling ill makes one naseaous.
