Comments[edit]

Another fascinating and richly-cited article on an oddly-neglected topic. It seems admirably comprehensive and I have few issues with it.

  • Images are suitable and seem all to be properly licensed. (I think that metal spacesuit must have been rather warm that near the sun...)
  • Spot-checks are all fine.
  • The solar storms paragraph of "Other" might warrant its own section.
    • I considered doing that, but it's really a relatively minor aspect compared to dimming/extinction and exploding, going by the coverage in the sources. TompaDompa (talk) 19:08, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • You might want to illustrate the solar storms item with a Commons image of a solar flare.
    • I'll admit to not being terribly impressed by those images (or more specifically their suitability for this article), but I went ahead and added one of them anyway. TompaDompa (talk) 19:08, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • You might want to link the counter-earth / Gor image caption's mention of unstable orbits to Orbital decay.
    • I don't think that's the right concept. The issue is not that they would end up colliding but that they would not remain at perfectly diametrically opposite points in their shared orbit and thus would not remain hidden from each other. TompaDompa (talk) 19:08, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • In "Eclipses", "having a several-hour duration despite solar eclipses lasting for a maximum of a few minutes." might be better as "having a several-hour duration, whereas solar eclipses last for a maximum of a few minutes."
  • You might want to link (some part of) "allow them to move with the eclipse's path of totality" to Eclipse chasing.
    • That doesn't seem like the right concept to me. Eclipse chasing seems to be about seeking to observe eclipses when they occur whereas this is about extending the duration, more akin to travelling across time zones to be able to celebrate the stroke of midnight multiple times on New Year's Eve. Summary[edit]

That's about all, the article is certainly of the required standard. Chiswick Chap (talk) 13:41, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Chiswick Chap: I have addressed the issues and responded above. TompaDompa (talk) 19:08, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
