Coverage and structure
[edit]Looks good.
Links to online refs
[edit]The link checker found some issues:
- Coulthard is Red Bull's Superman is now dead (404, not found)
- Some 302s (temporary redirects). Not a problem in itself. I'll shout if I can't access them when checking content of cited works.
- A couple of sites don't like link checker bots. Not a problem in itself. I'll shout if I can't access them when checking content of cited works.
Plot
[edit]- No refs, so the plot summary is just your ideas about what the important points are. I expect you can get refs from the reviews.
- Plot generally never have references in them, because you don't put original thoughts, but descriptive claims. See WP:MOSFILM. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 13:35, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- In "As Clark Kent, Superman returns to Earth, living with his adoptive mother, Martha Kent on the Kent Farm in Smallville. Clark returns to his job at ..." the mention of Martha and Smallville looks superfluous as they get no further mention. How about e.g. "Superman returns to Earth and, as Clark Kent, resumes his job at ..."?
- "..., while learning that Lois Lane has won the ..." looks odd. How about "..., and learns that Lois Lane has won the ..."?
- "... steals Kryptonian crystals" could easily be misread as "... Kryptonite ...". how are they described in the movie?
- Superman "saves Kitty" while foiling the bank heist. How does she get back with Luthor ("Luthor and Kitty escape in their helicopter; ...")?
- "On observing the effect of a Kryptonite sample on Jason, ..." looks verbose. How about "Seeing the effect of a Kryptonite sample on Jason, ..."?
- "... after Lois asserts that the father is Richard, he leaves to launch the crystal ..." is ambiguous. How about ""... after Lois asserts that the father is Richard, Luthor leaves to launch the crystal ..."?
- "Superman discovers the landmass is filled with Kryptonite" - how did Luthor get so much Kryptonite?
- Does the plot section really need to contain so many spoilers? -209.148.177.190 (talk) 05:29, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- "Superman is stabbed by Luthor with a shard of Kryptonite and falls into the ocean. Lois makes Richard turn back to rescue Superman, whereupon she removes the Kryptonite from his back." Did Lois prudently bring SCUBA gear with her?
- "...lifts the landmass by putting layers of earth between him and the Kryptonite" suggests he lifted the landmass by pushing earth under it like a wedge. How about "...lifts the landmass after putting layers of earth between him and the Kryptonite"?
- "Superman pushes the landmass into space, but is weakened by the Kryptonite
present..." might be better - "Superman later awakens and flies to see Jason, reciting Jor-El's last speech to Jason as he sleeps" - how about "Superman later awakens and flies to visit Jason, reciting Jor-El's last speech to Jason as he sleeps"
Cast
[edit]- "Stephan Bender portrays teenage Clark Kent in a flashback scene" needs a ref.
- http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/701/701420p1.html covers casting of an unknown as S-man, but not Singer on the Caviezel-Christ connection.
- No ref for Routh meeting Joseph "McG" Nichol.
- No ref for Dana Reeve saying Routh resembled Christopher Reeve.
- http://www.superherohype.com/news/supermannews.php?id=4196 does not have the cited title and says nothing about bodybuilding.
- http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117915886.html?categoryid=1236&cs=1 says Bosworth had worked with Spacey, but not that Spacey recommended Bosworth.
- James Marsden as Richard White - needs a ref
- Tristan Lake Leabu as Jason White - needs a ref.
- In "Parker Posey as Kitty Kowalski: The character is an homage to Eve Teschmacher from the 1978 film, portrayed by Valerie Perrine", "homage" is too strong. How about "based on"?
- http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/701/701987p1.html is all about Spacey as Luthor, says nothing about Langella or Laurie as Perry White.
- "Sam Huntington as Jimmy Olsen: A young photographer at the Daily Planet. Jimmy is friends with Clark Kent, and also struggles to takes a pleasing photograph of Superman for Perry White" needs a ref.
- "Eva Marie Saint as Martha Kent: The adoptive mother of Clark Kent / Superman. She was emotionally broken by her son's five year absence"
- http://www.superherohype.com/news/supermannews.php?id=4197 support the Marlon Brando footage but the CGI supplements.
- http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,12770196-1702,00.html now shows news.com.au's home page. All the statements about bit parts and Richard Branson need refs.
I'm going to pause the review here - the number of referencing problems in "Casting" is ridiculous. Please check that all statements in all parts of the artcile are supported by valid refs that are still accessible, and post a note here when you've done. I will then restart the review from the top. If I find any referencing issues at all on the second pass, I will assess this article as a "fail". --Philcha (talk) 12:12, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Is anyone doing anything about the referencing problems? I seel there have been a few edits since I posted this review, but the edit summaries say nothing about dealing with these issues. I expect the issues to be dealt with within a week, otherwise I will have to assess this article as "failed GA". --Philcha (talk) 20:54, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Conclusion
[edit]There's been no reponse about the referencing issues. This article has failed to reach GA standard. --Philcha (talk) 08:49, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
