The redirect
[edit]- it seems to me that surge arrester is also a commonly used term... that why I created this redirection! Mat 13:15, 8 August 2005 . . User:217.115.72.101
- This should not be redirected to Surge Protector. Very different things... A surge arrester is used in EHV switchyards to protect things like transformers from over-voltages caused by lightning strikes. We are not talking about home consumables here but rather transmission system elements. Marc. 61.14.141.218 (talk) 08:08, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- This discussion refers to a redirect that was at Surge arrester before Surge arrestor was moved to Surge arrester. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:34, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Spelling?
[edit]- Is the correct spelling "Arrestor", as used in the title, or "Arrester", as used in the main flow of text? Google suggests "arrester" is correct, in which case I think this page should be renamed accordingly. If both spellings are correct, I think the text and title should still be consistent. --Freudinator (talk) 14:25, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
No references. Entire sections seems (poorly) machine translated.
[edit]Should the "Types" section be removed? Or just gutted?
It feels like a bad machine translation. Some sections are actual gibberish. I'm not even going to fix the grammar, or make the lines into actual sentences, because I can't figure out what is actually relevant.
I spent about 20 minutes researching different types of surge arresters, and their use, but the list on this page still doesn't really make sense.
A few of these seem to contradict an earlier statement "For consumer equipment protection, different products called surge protectors are used". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.147.25.81 (talk) 04:03, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
