Mugs
[edit]It's possibly worth adding a section on "the mugs", which are probably quite rare/collectable now. The producers were often asked for replicas of "the TFI Friday mug" that Evans drank from every Friday evening, but they had none. After enough badgering someone in Ginger productions had the idea of creating a limited run on 1000 mugs, selling them for £35 each and for a limited time (through the breakfast radio show that Evans was also hosting at the time). When the deadline was reached the remaining mugs (iirc 300 or so) were destroyed by tipping them off a high building, live, on the programme. One mug survived the fall, and IIRC, something special was done with it. --82.30.154.143 11:53, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
What does TFI stand for? Maybe this should be added to the article?
[edit]I always thought TFI was internet slang for "Thanks For the Information". However that does not seem to make much sense with "Friday" on the end. Neither do any of the other definitions I have found on-line, e.g. "The Fertiliser Institute".
Can some one add a definition to the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.140.176.238 (talk) 13:18, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
It means thank fuck it's Friday but it's claimed it meant thank four it's friday.[citation needed]
The last comment is correct. When the series was first broadcast in the 1990s it was stated that it officially stood for "Thank (Channel) Four It's Friday". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.225.149.5 (talk) 13:17, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
