New GNIS data[edit]

On March 1, GNIS corrected the corrdinates for Tartown to accurately reflect its former location as shown in earlier USGS maps (Fairfield, PA, 1:62500, 1909). FYI, I submitted a request to Google maps to make the change, citing http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic/f?p=gnispq:3:::NO::P3_FID:1211041 As of this writing, G-maps still places it about 0.75 miles to the east on a steep slope. GNIS added some historical notes, which I attempted to summarize in edits to the article, as well as the variant name. I also added a photo of the present-day reservoir, which sits right on the Tartown, coordinates. It would be helpful to add a photo of some of the foundations and rubble that I know are present near the modern lake. Jgothar (talk) 15:52, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
