This map is fiction.

"Non-native?" Like the Red Race never existed. Part of the definition of "country" or "territory" includes the ability to defend your borders. The reality is, outside of Mexico City and mission villages, all the territory claimed by Spain was controlled by the Red Race. Spain could not have defended even New Mexico, and had no interest in doing so. Neither could France or the UK defend any part of Canada or any area west of their colonial cities. 75.210.136.97 (talk) 15:48, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm still pissed off.

Where is the Souix nation? And about a dozen others. Whatever narcissistic Brainiac made this fictitious map should be awarded their Chair in Racism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.210.136.97 (talk) 15:57, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Revisionist History

Besides the Chair of Racism, perhaps our Brainiac should also be awarded the 1750 Medal for Revisionist History. 75.210.136.97 (talk) 16:02, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Judgement calls

It seems that quite a few things are left out, e.g. New Sweden and New Netherlands but a lot of trivia is put in, e.g. Republic of Vermont. There will always be territorial disputes and break away regions - I wouldn't put in most of these. Smallbones (talk) 19:53, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Yeah alot of work needs to be done on pre-1750 era when New Sweden and New Netherlands existed. However the article is getting kinda of long maybe have a 1495 to 1750 article? -- Esemono (talk) 04:11, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Islands in the Gulf of Mexico

There were several islands in the gulf of mexico that were claimed by the united states in the 1800's. There were three groups of claims one in 1879 another in 1880 and a third in 1894. All of the islands claimed were also claimed by mexico, and in 1894 the US Government waived its claims on all these three island groups in favor of the Mexican claims.XavierGreen (talk) 01:46, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Republic of Georgia

Either we should have every seceded state listed, or scratch this. Also, in the internal link it only says that some people added "Republic of Georgia", and that it was never declared (and perhaps even in retrospect, as the article says). It seems that this is no different from any of the other seceded states, only that some people called it the "Republic of Georgia". NittyG (talk) 03:04, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
