Questions

Should this really be classified as a 1984 movie, since it was made in 1981? (Surely the "release" date is irrelevant?)

And is "Aaron" really the titular alchemist? (I always thought that was "Delgado") [Aaron didn't seem to practise any magic, but was only the victim of a curse. When Esther sells her soul, he asks her "You've used Delgado's things here, haven't you?" which suggests Aaron didn't have any magical paraphernalia of his own.]
