Location vs. Name
Should this article be only about the venue at Geary and Fillmore regardless of name, the "Fillmore" as it existed in two different locations, or something else? I think it should at least cover the Fillmore in both locations. It's clear Graham took the name to the new location and intended it to be the same venue, run by the same people, just in a new location. Torc2 (talk) 23:49, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- It was not the same venue though. In fact they were both still open at the same time. One was "Fillmore Auditorium"; the other was "Fillmore West: Carousel Ballroom," and the Carousel had been open at least since February. Check out the footage on West Pole; they're clearly referenced as two different venues. Graham ran Winterland too, but no one would call that the same venue. JoeD80 (talk) 23:45, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
External link / reference suggestion
As an editor at Crawdaddy!, and to comply with COI guidelines, I am not posting the link to this interview with Michael Bailey, longtime booker for the Fillmore. However, I would like to recommend it on its merits, in case any Wikipedia editor might want to use the article as a reference or external link here. I appreciate your time. Crawdaddy! [1]

Un-conflation of Fillmore Auditorium and Fillmore West stories
This article had conflated and thereby tangled the Fillmore Auditorium and Fillmore West stories while preferring and insisting "The Fillmore" referred to the former venue. The locations are not the same and the stories while overlapping somewhat are not synonymous. The easiest and cleanest thing to do is to list them separately. Editors are welcome to flesh out the acts and histories which made each venue famous yet distinct. Wikiuser100 (talk) 16:20, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for creating the Fillmore West article and helping to un-conflate (dis-conflate?) the two, Wikiuser100! --GentlemanGhost (talk) 03:40, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Location of The Fillmore
At Geary Blvd and Fillmore Street the building housing the original Fillmore was in the heart of the Western Addition not bordering on any neighborhood. Pacific Heights probably starts at California St, a few blocks away. Some real estate maps have a Lower Pacific Heights but it still wouldn't come down to Geary. Dangnad (talk) 01:17, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- It depends on who is drawing the maps, it seems. Google Maps, for example, doesn't demarcate the Fillmore District as a subset of Western Addition, but as separate entities.[2][3] But, as you say, they don't mark Pacific Heights as extending that far South.[4] So it might be more accurate to say that it is located in the center of Western Addition, near the edge of its Fillmore District. --GentlemanGhost (talk) 03:36, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Also it seems that realtors have taken to referring to Upper Fillmore as Lower Pacific Heights. (Just like they tried to call apartments in my neighborhood "La Jolla East".) Times change, neighborhoods change. I don't know that there is a definitive authority on this. --GentlemanGhost (talk) 03:54, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Where's Wikipedia
Despite valid criticisms dating from 20 Aug 2009 through the present, this badly-written and totally misinformed article has not been changed. The ignorance here is monumental. The vaunted Wikipedia reviewers (smelling strangely like zombie bots making their way across the Martian plain) are really overworked and under IQed. Does Wikipedia really work (in its present model)? Dangnad (talk) 03:43, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- You are Wikipedia. Feel free to correct the misinformation and improve the writing. Cheers, GentlemanGhost (talk) 03:16, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
