- Infobox and lead
- We don't have the studio locations from the liner notes?
- File:The Hunger Games Mockingjay, Part 1 – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.png does not have alternate text in the infobox image.
- official soundtrack to the 2014 Lionsgate science-fiction adventure film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 curated by New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde. → official soundtrack to the 2014 Lionsgate science-fiction adventure film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, curated by New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde.
- The soundtrack has been described by critics → The soundtrack was described by music critics..
- and a use of electronic beats → and usage of electronic beats
- The soundtrack's melodic style is a change from the previous guitar-driven records. → The melodic style of the songs is a deviation from the guitar-driven sound of the previous soundtracks in the series.
- The soundtrack received highly positive reviews from music critics who praised its dystopian mood and Lorde's curation. → Following its release, the soundtrack received positive reviews from music critics who praised its dystopian mood and Lorde's curation. (Remove the link to music journalism here, and removal of WP:WEASEL words)
- "Yellow Flicker Beat" was announced as the lead single on 29 September 2014 to generally positive reviews. → "Yellow Flicker Beat" was released as the lead single on 29 September 2014, and received generally positive reviews.
- The song was nominated for Best Original Song at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, and Best Song at the 20th Critics' Choice Awards. → It was nominated for Best Original Song at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, and Best Song at the 20th Critics' Choice Awards.
- It debuted at number 18 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 21,293, according to Nielsen SoundScan → The statement is sourced to Headlineplanet which is a gross, unreliable source without any authoritative access to Nielsen SoundScan sales, there by copyright violation. Please remove and replace with a better one, preferably from Billboard.
- Background
- Director Francis Lawrence released a statement saying that he sat down with Lorde on the set of Mockingjay when shooting commenced in spring → Director Francis Lawrence released a statement saying that he sat down with Lorde on the set of Mockingjay when filming commenced in spring
- The next block of lines is made of of chunks of quote, why not simply rephrase them? Or just use a single blockquote. Because currently its pretty distracting to read with two-three quotes embedded in between like that.
- Australian and New Zealand iTunes store on November 14 → Australian and New Zealand iTunes Store on November 14
- When speaking on his contribution to the soundtrack → Before starting this line, I think there is a bit of disconnect. You should give an overview of the different artists that worked on the soundtrack, then go into Duran duran. Currently it reads like its jumping from "Yellow Flicker Beat" to the one with Duran Duran.
- In an interview with Billboard, she stated that her "idol", Kanye West, had made a remix of the album's first single, "Yellow Flicker Beat" which would appear on the track list.[17][2] She stated that she would put off calling West as she found it hard to speak to people she didn't know on the phone.[18] --> Please correct reference positioning and grammatical errors.
- Writing and development
- When chooses the artists, Lorde revealed that she tried to be → When selecting the artists, Lorde revealed that she tried to be
- The rest of the first para needs to be completely rewritten. It does not make much sense and much of it is copied from the Elle source. WP:PLAGIARISM applies.
I'm stopping here for now. @De88: I suggest you start addressing the comments because the rest of the sections have bigger problems. Nothing that cannot be salvaged but it needs lot of work. —IB [ Poke ] 10:30, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- @IndianBio: I used all your suggestions and proceeded to add or remove other information from the article that I felt did not belong there.
- Edit: Unfortunately, I could not find a reliable site that mentioned the studio locations for the soundtrack.De88 (talk) 17:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
- @De88:, use the liner notes as reference for Studio location. They always have it where the songs were recorded. —IB [ Poke ] 03:31, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- @IndianBio: Just found the studio location and added personnel credits as well. De88 (talk) 15:13, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for doing this :) It looks so much better. I shall continue reviewing sometime later today and hoping you are finding the comments helpful. —IB [ Poke ] 03:30, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

- Songs
- Per the Manual of Style, we should not embed text within two adjoining images/boxes like how it is now currently, with the sample box for "Yellow Flicker Beat" and West and Chvrches picture. The text looks embedded. I suggest move the sample to the Single section, since "Yellow Flicker Beat" was the most prominent release from the soundtrack and the Rationale also applies there.
- I would also suggest rename the section as Composition, since its not just the songs or a list of it, but rather you are essentially talking about the music content, the description of the compositions as well as different genres in it.
- The soundtrack's opening song, "Meltdown" was described as having a --> By [who?]
- The above is one of the examples of many I found in this section. If you are actually going for sentence construction like "Song XXX was described by YYY as ZZZ" then you have to mention who described or iterated such content? As I can see, all the references have an adjoining author for them so include them. But lets not make it repetitive also :)
- "Lost Souls" details a "tense lament" that features Raury rapping → First appearance of Raury so please link it.
- Link art pop
- referencing the rise of Katniss Everdeen → referencing the rise of Katniss Everdeen, the main protagonist of the Hunger Games series.
- that was compared to Kate Bush → that was compared to songs by Kate Bush
- conga polyrhythms → wikify
- Again we have instances of "described",
- Singles
- As reiterated above, move the sample for "Yellow Flicker Beat" here since it makes much sense and does not embed the text in-between.
- The paragraph about "The Hanging Tree" is a bit too WP:UNDUE on its commercial reception as much of the content is applicable for its own article.
- It was later released as the second single from the album.[50] → This reference does not have a publisher
- Lawrence became one of 16 other Academy Award winning recipients to chart on the Hot 100. → unsourced.
- The song peaked at number one in Austria,[52] Germany → The song peaked at number one in Austria, Germany[52] (move the reference)
- If you have to use certifications, use the {{cite certification}} template and include within the reference tags. You do not need to hardcode.
- Critical reception
- Per WP:ALBUMS, "The soundtrack received highly positive reviews from music critics who praised its dystopian mood and Lorde's curation" → A line like this which borderlines on POV has to have a source indicating it as positive.
- The second para you are iterating that there were some mixed reviews → thereby, now you are completely contradicting the opening statement.
- The accolades table, we don't really need it right? We can easily replace by prose since many of the accolades are adjoined with commentary from the publications. See Rebel Heart for example.
- General comments
- Not seeing a commercial performance section which is strange because a lot of commentary would be available for an expected release like The Hunger Games soundtrack.
- German charts redirects, please rectify.
- South Korean charts should be going down the list per sorting.
- Replace all normal dashes in the reference titles with {{en dash}}.
@De88: lot to work on the article, and I hope you found it helpful. —IB [ Poke ] 06:35, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- @IndianBio: Just finished revising the whole article. Your comments were indeed helpful. They really helped me edit things that I did not realize were cited incorrectly or misplaced. It was quite a fix but I think it is much better now. I also thought about adding a commercial performance section but there were not a lot of certifications for the soundtrack, just the singles. It had the lowest sales performances from the franchise. De88 (talk) 17:31, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- Final comments
- the cover artwork needs a direct source in the rationale box. iTunes can be used.
- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack → The last bold bit is essentially the tagline for this soundtrack. You don't need to mention it in the infobox or in the chronology sequence actually. The article's name itself has the soundtrack appended as a Disambiguation. Also, your opening line in the lead makes it very clear that its a soundtrack. See Who's That Girl, I'm Breathless or Evita for example. —IB [ Poke ] 17:56, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- @IndianBio: Just added the source to the rationale box and shortened the soundtrack title in the infobox and chronology sequence. De88 (talk) 18:17, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
- The article is much improved now. Congratulations I'm happy to promote this as a GA. —IB [ Poke ] 03:01, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
