USS Houston collision
[edit]During the period of filming (June 14, 1989), the USS Houston was involved in a collision with a tugboat that resulted in one death. See here. While the article, and the word-of-mouth reports I originally heard about the incident make the connection with the film very strongly, it's not completely clear to me that the Houston was actually doing anything different from normal at the time of the collision because of the filming of the movie. Any opinions on including this information in the article? siafu (talk) 23:00, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
I was on the USS McKee (submarine tender assigned to care for the Houston) when the collision with the tug happened, and was there when it came to port immediately after the accidental sinking. It was simply transiting at the time of the collision, coming "home" from filming operations.
"Connery continued using the heavy Russian accent he perfected for the motion picture"
[edit]Is someone taking the proverbial with such a statement? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.65.156.93 (talk) 23:07, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- Agree. Eyebrows went up when I read that. The only accent he had was his normal Sean Connery version of Scottish Fountainbridge accent; I don't think there was even an attempt at a Russian accent by Connery. The nearest references in the article are at the top of the paragraph, including an interview with Milius. I searched all 16 pages for the word "accent" and came up empty-handed. The second reference I don't have access to, but I am somewhat doubtful if that supports the assertion, anyway. So, it doesn't look like there is a reference for that assertion. — al-Shimoni (talk) 21:14, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
Music Score
[edit]A statement says that a recent version of the filmscore "...features 40 additional minutes of the score, including the so far-unreleased end titles.[14]" If this new release features the end titles, how can they be "so far unreleased"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:643:8104:730:FC5C:A5B6:ADAE:A78E (talk) 12:27, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
Cast - order
[edit]Is there a reason why Sam Neil is so far down the cast list? He had higher billing in the film
Peter Firth is higher in this list - who was only in the film a very brief moment

"Emergency blow"
[edit]Was there talk of environmental or structural fallout from doing a real emergency rise/surfacing during the movie? 2600:100D:B146:1005:FDEA:BA78:49F3:DB3 (talk) 17:18, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

- The source of what, exactly? This is an American made film, based upon a novel written by an American author. This is all stated within the article. --Picard's Facepalm • Made It So Engage! • 19:58, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
