Painted VS Warded?
[edit]Anyone know why in the UK Arlen is Painted and in the US he's Warded? 24.20.202.157 (talk) 01:24, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
When I spoke to peter he said something about one print run starting before the decision to change the name - I _think_ the painted man was first, but it was too late to redo the print run to make it consistant. initially he thought that it may be some racial sensitivity in the US over the phrase "painted man", but this was not the case according to him. I think he did a blog post explaining this at one point Whitehatnetizen (talk) 02:53, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
- I'm more curious as to why an article about a book written by an American author, in the United States, is indexed under a name used only in the UK. Shouldn't the article be about The Warded Man, with a reference to it being titled differently elsewhere? TechBear | Talk | Contributions 23:40, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- The author's original version uses "Painted Man" instead of "Warded Man" (both as the title of the first book, and the term used within the book. See the following from Brett's AMA on Reddit where he talks about this: [1], so since its the original title, it should probably stay this way. Caidh (talk) 01:29, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- Got it, thanks for the clarification. TechBear | Talk | Contributions 21:16, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

[edit]I plan to move the shared background information from The Painted Man and The Desert Spear to a new page: The Demon Cycle. That would keep the two book pages just about the books. Anybody disagree? -- GhostInTheMachine (talk) 17:30, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
