i think this term is different from therapeutic index. actually both 2 terms are used to estimate the range of dosage, but their calculation, or determination, is a bit different from each other. so i just delete the redirect line and drop a few lines about therapeutic window. frankly speaking, I just don't know if this action is appropriate or not. -meaningless 10:28, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The differentiation between therapeutic window and index is poor on the Internet. Since many internet easily search-able sources refer to Wikipedia, it is important we provide a professional, accurate and definite explanation here. Could pharmacologists please help? --Peter W. 15:35, 12 July 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ptrw08 (talkcontribs)

These terms are nearly identical and this article is poor. I think they should be merged. Testem (talk) 21:15, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Therapeutic window refers to (a) a functional/pragmatic consideration to drug administration, that (b) also includes a temporal aspect. Therapeutic Index is a (a) descriptive qualifier based on (b) drug characteristics. The former is important in it's own right as it also relates to drug tolerance, overdose, and addiction, and thus should not be disregarded. (Rakshar (talk) 08:24, 16 January 2015 (UTC))[reply]

They describe the same phenomena and thus should be merged. The particularities of a window and an index can be captured within the article. --Chrisvanlang (talk) 13:53, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed; Merge Therapeutic Window into therapeutic index, given that (a) TW is smaller; (b) in my opinion, TI is a concept that is used marginally more often. TW should have its own clear subheading on the Therapeutic index page. Klbrain (talk) 20:27, 27 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
