[edit]Thomas J. Kelly to Thomas Kelly, with Thomas J. redirecting here All entries at Thomas J. are also here, so the second dab seems to serve no purpose. It could also cause confusion - if someone creates an article, they may add it to only one of the two dabs, and therefore the right article would be more difficult to find. We tend to dab by personal name only, not personal name plus middle initial, unless there is a compelling reason to - here there doesn't seem to be one. Boleyn2 (talk) 18:23, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- Seeing that there wasn't anything unique on the other page, I simply redirected it here. Thanks for noticing. Jason McHuff (talk) 23:48, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Alphabetical or sections
[edit]The recent change from a purely aphabetical list to one that is organised in sections is unhelpful. It's more difficult for a reader to find a subject if the subject has to be categorised first; the same applies to editors who want to add new entries. Sectioning is sometimes difficult; it leads to a unhelpful section "Other" and often to undetected duplicate entries. Following WP:BRD, I will revert that edit. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 04:05, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
- MOS:DABGROUPING, regularly-reaffirmed consensus, and universal practice disagree with you. If you have an issue with that, take it up on Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Disambiguation_pages. —swpbT 14:16, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
