Recent edits 8/8/15[edit]

There seems to be some editing by an anonymous editor using multiple IP addresses that does not understand how Wikipedia works. I removed an addition of assistant principals to the infobox with an edit summary "unencyclopedic and malformed." Both WP:SCH/AG, a guideline, and WP:NOTDIR, a policy, tell us not to create lists of staff. IP reverted, requesting help formatting in the edit summary. I reverted again with an explanation of what was unencyclopedic about it. IP reverted again, this time requesting help formatting from a specific uninvolved editor. Not reverting again today, but if no discussion ensues, I will tomorrow and request protection. IP has jumped addresses, so I see no point in communications on their talk. Reply[edit]

User:Jimbo Wales I am sorry that I do not understand all of the intricacies of Wikipedia, but User:John from Idegon has not been helpful. I though that becoming an editor on Wikipedia would be a great way to spend my retirement and I wanted to try and figure it out before I made a user page for myself. I was mistaken because User:John from Idegon has only been caustic and unhelpful. I will revert the edit and refrain from using this online encyclopedia all together. 73.203.29.178 (talk) 22:00, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Correction by Alumni[edit]

The “previous location” was established long before 1980. It is now the location of the Intermediate Center, on AL HWY 119.

I was graduated there in 1969, and I was by no means a member of the first class to attend.

Notable alumni[edit]

With very limited exceptions, we do not add alumni unless they have an English Wikipedia article to show their notability. If you think an alumnus meets the notability requirements of WP:BIO then WP:WTAF before adding them. Simply being a good university athlete (as is the case with the recent attempts to add Carla Ragland) is not sufficient to presume that a person is notable. Meters (talk) 20:14, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

And the latest attempt (the fifth) [1] to add Carla Ragland has the summary "This edit is not up for debate especially when article sources are listed, and even more so when you live nowhere near this town or the local city". Well, yes it is up for debate. The edit has been challenged. The subject does not have a Wikipedia article to establish her notability, and the sources do not show that we can presume notability. Per WP:BRD the IP editor should be discussing the edit here rather than continuing to restore it. And the IP's assumption about where I live, correct or not, is irrelevant. The alumni list is a list of alumni who are notable by Wikipedia's standards, not a list of alumni who locals think should be listed. More than a year later and IPs are still attempting to add this supposed alumnus. Meters (talk) 23:16, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
